Russell 2000 Index

Small Caps. Big Signals.

Not every player makes the headlines. But some shape the future.

What is the Russell 2000 Index?

The Russell 2000 Index tracks 2,000 small-cap companies across the United States.
It’s the smaller sibling of the Russell 3000 — but its impact runs deep.
This index captures the pulse of emerging businesses, regional growth, and companies that are often too agile, too early, or too bold for large-cap benchmarks.

Where the S&P shows stability, the Russell shows movement.
Not always smooth. But always real.

Who manages it?

The Russell 2000 is maintained by FTSE Russell, a subsidiary of the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG).

Rebalancing is done annually, with rules-based adjustments based on market capitalization and eligibility.

How companies qualify

To be included in the Russell 2000, a company must:

  • Be U.S.-based

  • Be part of the broader Russell 3000 universe

  • Rank in the bottom 2,000 by market cap

  • Have sufficient public float and liquidity

  • Be listed on a U.S. exchange (NYSE, Nasdaq)

There’s no human committee like with the S&P 500 — it’s a rules-based, objective system.

2000 roots. One signal: growth.

The Flow Behind the Signals

You only get a signal when it matters.

Not when the internet is screaming. Not when charts look busy.
Only when a clean, meaningful setup forms – one with a clear risk/reward profile.

No opportunity? No signal.
No noise. No pressure. No pretending.

What if a week brings nothing?

Then I’ll tell you that.
Instead of forcing trades, you’ll get a short market update – on Friday or over the weekend.
No drama. No over-explaining. Just what matters for your booked package:

  • What happened

  • What’s shaping up

  • What I’m watching next

I track the market every day – so you don’t have to.
And if there’s nothing smart to do, I’ll say it clearly.

Because sometimes, the best move is no move.
